HouseWorks Home Care Associates are people you'll be glad to know. Compassionate, resourceful, perceptive - they're experts at putting clients at ease and bringing pleasure back to their lives. HouseWorks associates make caregiving an art.
Selectivity
To meet our uncompromising service standards, HouseWorks must employ the best home care associates available and we do just that. In 2007,
only one in eight referred applicants was offered employment as a HouseWorks Home Care Associate.
Screening
Without exception, every HouseWorks associate completes a lengthy evaluation process before he or she is sent to a customer's home. After passing an initial screening interview to determine basic qualifications, each candidate meets with four senior managers for in-depth interviews designed to assess home care experience, motivation, reliability, judgment (especially when responding to emergencies or difficult situations), emotional insight, initiative, communication skills, professionalism and personality. If the interviewers unanimously recommend the candidate, HouseWorks evaluates his or her personal care skills, contacts three business references, and conducts a Criminal Record (CORI) check before offering employment. We also review driving records, insurance, and registration of applicants who will be transporting clients.
Qualifications
All associates must have at least one year of experience that demonstrates their ability to work well with families while providing quality care for seniors. We also require experience caring for individuals with memory impairment or dementia and look for candidates with well-rounded resumés, including hospital, rehab, and home care experience. Associates who provide personal care must document successful completion of an approved home health aide training course and regularly demonstrate their proficiency to HouseWorks' supervisory staff. Every associate is also required to complete the HouseWorks orientation program and participate in regular in-service training.
