"Before Amina [a HouseWorks Associate] began caring for my mother, she had spent close to a year in and out of hospitals and nursing homes and her physical and mental health was deteriorating before our eyes. Shortly after Amina began caring for my mother we could see a dramatic improvement . . . They have formed a unique bond that goes way beyond caregiver and patient. I cannot express how comforting it is to my family to stand outside the door of my mother's apartment and hear the two of them laughing and sharing a moment together."
"As my brother and sisters and I watched our father's rapid physical and mental decline after his placement in a nursing home, we felt depressed and helpless. The nursing home staff told us that my father would never be able to return home, and that no one would be able to meet his needs. We were introduced to HouseWorks offhandedly by a social worker, but she again assured us that you would not be up to the task. Nothing could be further from the truth. "We were worried that it would take my ailing mother time to adjust to a new caregiver. In anticipation of that, I wrote a list of all the things we were expecting of a new caregiver, including and emphasizing continuous mental stimulation.
