HouseWorks offers choice and stability for clients who need round-the-clock care. Because we employ the largest and best-qualified team of home care associates, we can guarantee both uninterrupted coverage and a great match. Services are available 365 days a year and all types of 24-hour care can be arranged within hours of the initial service request. Clients may also add, decrease, or discontinue any component of their 24-hour services at any time.
Hourly Services
When 24-hour care is purchased on an hourly basis, services are provided by at least two Associates per day, each filling a 12-hour shift. Typically, a team of four Associates is assigned to each case to ensure consistent coverage, with two members of the team working some overtime hours each week.
Live-In Services
When a client sleeps well at night, services may be provided on a live-in basis. A live-in Associate typically maintains his or her own residence, but sleeps at the client's home when on duty. Clients must be able to offer a private and comfortable place for the Associate to sleep, either in a separate bedroom or a space converted for the Associate's use at night.
The daily rate for live-in services is based on the assumption that the Associate can take a daily two-hour break. If the Associate cannot take a daily break - either due to the client's needs or the family's preferences - HouseWorks charges an additional half day per week. Clients are also responsible for covering live-in Associates' meal costs while on the job.
In most cases, live-in Associates are off-duty every other weekend. HouseWorks always schedules a well-matched replacement to ensure continuity of care.
Live-In plus Nights
In addition to live-in services, many clients also receive awake care at night from a second Associate paid on an hourly basis. Supplemental nighttime hours are provided as needed and can be increased, decreased, or discontinued as circumstances change. This enhanced live-in option is more cost-effective than purchasing round-the-clock care on an hourly basis while providing greater continuity of care.
Home Care plus Nursing
Before initiating 24-hour services for clients who needs skilled services, such as colostomy or catheter care, HouseWorks' Clinical Advisor (a registered nurse) assesses the client's nursing needs and orients Associates who will be providing the client's care. The Clinical Advisor also provides ongoing consultation services which include home visits to re-evaluate health status and modify the care plan. Nurse consultation and supervision services are covered by HouseWorks' home care rates. Home health care provided by a registered nurse is also available on a fee-for-service basis.
