Comparing the True Costs of Long-Term Care
When it comes to long-term care, out-of-pocket costs depend primarily on the level of care the senior needs, not where he or she lives.  At this breakfast seminar, Andrea Cohen described a practical approach to estimating long-term costs at home, in assisted living, and in nursing home settings based on whether the senior needs intermittent, daily, or continuous care.   Taking this approach to projecting costs, families can be better prepared to finance the long-term care option that best meets their needs and preferences.  The seminar also took a brief look at the cost implications of the latest trend in senior housing:   intentional retirement communities like Boston’s Beacon Hill Village.
