The Coalition was established to acknowledge the essential role of family caregivers in America’s healthcare provision. Since its’ inception, the Coalition has organized two successful Town Hall Meetings – the second broadcast by PBS affiliates as part of the national “And Thou Shalt Honor” series on family caregiving. The energy and follow-up interest generated by the Town Hall Meetings demonstrates the potential of a family caregiver coalition to raise awareness and create change.
Today, the Coalition consists of an active steering committee and a larger group of organizations and individuals who generously give their time and resources. Over the past several years, this committed group of supporters has developed into a well-defined coalition with an Action Agenda that draws on the combined strengths of its membership.
Building on the promising achievements of the past 2 years, the Coalition’s Action Agenda includes:
- Raising awareness of family caregiving issues among policy-makers, employers, media executives, healthcare providers, and the general public, and
- Improving caregiver access to information and decision-making support
Committed to improving the lives of all family caregivers-- in New England & beyond.
